A chance meeting with multi award winning wedding photographer Sue Taylor began a whirlwind ‘romance’ with the phenomenon known as Stop Motion Animation. Previously the domain of Television classics like Postman Pat and Wallace & Gromit, the quirky production technique has burst its way onto the wedding scene.
Like Sue, both myself Geoff & wife Ally were completely smitten with the results we were seeing from a New Zealand couple who adopted stop motion into their wedding photography business. They are constantly travelling the world delivering their productions to four different continents and now, thanks to their guidance and Sue’s keen sense of the wedding industry, we are extremely proud to introduce stopmotion weddings to the Hunter and surrounds.
A former television producer and wedding videographer, I had long since packed my video kit away until I saw how beautifully stopmotion captured the entirety of a wedding day, encapsulating it in such a fresh, funky and entertaining way. Instantly the creative juices began to flow and Ally jumped at the opportunity to enhance her photographic skills so together, the newly formed trio set to perfecting the technique and offering it as a new and exclusive service of Sue Taylor Photography.
Stopmotion brings many pluses to the table as far as a record of that special day is concerned. In particular, the ability to view the entire day in just a few entertaining minutes, opens up the sharing aspect like never before. Within minutes of the bride and groom receiving their recording online, it can be shared around the globe via all social media. That means those who are unable (or uninvited) to attend, can enjoy the fun and ceremony of the day without leaving their lounge rooms. Further, they and those who did attend, can take five from their busy schedules, without having to sit through perhaps a few hours of the more traditional recordings.
Our lives haven’t been the same since our first viewing of stopmotion weddings and we look very much forward to further developing the technique as inspiration and creativity combine to keep the fun rolling.
